Morgan-Keefe Builders originally built this home in 2011 with Legerton Architecture (view the original Modern Opus gallery here). As a custom home the original Modern Opus incorporated the style and needs of its first homeowners. In 2022, they sold their home. The new owners loved the house, but desired some changes to make it feel more like their own. They hired Morgan-Keefe Builders and Allard & Roberts Interior Design to give this Work of Art an encore.

The team at Allard & Roberts set to work choosing modern updates and furniture that suited the homeowners’ vision. In the kitchen, Morgan-Keefe painted the cabinetry, updated the countertops and backsplash, and changed out wall cabinets for open shelving. New lighting, fresh paint, and a lighter floor stain brighten the entryway, living room, kitchen, and bedrooms. Conversely, deeply rich blue wallpaper and paint transformed the dining room into an intimate gathering space. Similarly, the formerly bright and airy library on the lower level now shows as a moody cocktail lounge; it’s a place to unwind or to have deep conversations with loved ones and guests. In the primary bedroom, Allard & Roberts enhanced the feature wall, creating a cohesive headboard with built-in side tables and lighting.

A catwalk leads to a separate wing of the house that was originally built as an art studio, complete with a photography dark-room and workroom. Now, the new owners have a proper guest wing, renovated to include a large and spacious luxe guest bath, bedroom, and comfortable living room.
