Building in the Mountains
Mountain homes typically come up against two types of challenges. The first is that the conditions in high-elevation, mountainous regions can be harsh at times. That’s why it is essential to find the most cost-effective and durable material for your site. The second reason is that the land will have to be adjusted, whether that’s through excavation or retaining walls. We try to do this in a way that is harmonious with the environment while still providing proper building ground. Even then, the home will need to be carefully designed around the layout of the land.

To address the challenges of building in the mountains, we carefully inspect a property to fully understand the land. Doing so also helps us determine which materials will be the most sustainable and resilient while remaining within the client’s budget. While walking the land, we keep the client’s vision front and center and evaluate how we can work with the land to make the vision possible.
